Contracts are Complicated
There are well over 100 form contracts published for mandatory or highly recommended use by the Texas Association of Realtors. Agents licensed in Texas must use these forms.
While they provide an excellent format and software, the proper use can be tricky. Make sure your agent is very familiar with the use of these forms both through experience and training. Mandatory on-going education requirements include regular training in this area.
Designations, such as the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), include extensive training and testing, especially in the area of contracts. I am proud to carry this designation as less than 10% of agents achieve this in Texas. If you do not work with me, I highly recommend you find someone with the GRI designation.
Common mistakes regarding the form contracts are repeated over and over and can put you in some jeopardy.
