Seasonal Fluctuation - Not in Today's Market
In previous years there might have been as much as a 10-15% premium when purchasing a lakehouse in the spring/summer vs. the fall/winter. The current market challenges have mostly eliminated this scenario. There is much more inventory than in the past and buyers are only looking for the best deals.
Sellers who really want to move their property do not have the luxury of charging more for "peak" seasons. July and August were the highest volume for waterfront sales this year. Spring and early Summer were traditionally the busy period.
Buyers expecting a discount in the "off" season may be disappointed, but will still find this is the best time to purchase waterfront in many, many years. The discounts exist today and have all of 2009.
